Posing for a photo at the aquarium in Marathon, Florida.
Frank also spent time fishing off the dock of the Palm Villa with his young grandsons, hanging out in the backyard, and swimming in the pool. They also ventured throughout the Keys to discover fun things to do, such as Theater of the Sea in Islamorada, The Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, The Marathon Turtle Hospital, and Florida Keys Aquarium Encounters. They reported all were great for young kids and highly entertaining for adults as well.
They spent a day in Key West, rented golf carts, and had a lot of fun zooming all over the island. They also checked out a hidden gem in the lower Keys called Boondock’s, where they ate at the restaurant and played mini putt-putt golf.
Some of their favorite restaurant finds were right in Marathon, nice and close to the Palm Villa house. They tried many during their month-long stay but said therir favorites were Brutus Seafood, Sparky’s Landing, Burdines Waterfront, and Lazy Days South were by far their most visited.
Oh, and you can’t forget dessert! Sweet Savannahs is a well-known staple in Marathon, located across from the Fire station. They have the BEST key lime pie and tons of ice cream flavors to choose from.
Overall they found the Palm Villa was perfect for their large family, to spread out throughout the house. They parked their trailer on the side of the house, and it was completely out of the way while they enjoyed paradise. They were even able to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the house!
